About The Position

The Stanford Health Care 3D and Quantitative Imaging Laboratory (3DQ Lab) is a specialized interdisciplinary center within the Stanford Department of Radiology. Its core mission is to develop and apply innovative software and visualization techniques to analyze medical imaging data. These methods directly translate complex 2D data into actionable clinical models. The lab leverages advanced image-processing platforms to support multiple medical specialties, including cardiothoracic surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, and pediatrics. The 3D Lab Radiology Reading Room Assistant is responsible for performing ancillary tasks that support imaging workflows and allow radiologists and imaging teams to focus on primary clinical functions. These tasks include triaging inbound communication, identifying and tracking work across Epic and web log, (including manually detecting 3D requests that don't trigger lab notifications), enter and route requests in the portal, distribute completed reports, and close the loop with invoicing and finance follow up.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Two years or more of effective experience in health care in hospital or healthcare setting required.
  • Strong organizational, decision making, problem solving, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in multi-tasking, interpersonal relationships and verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize problems and collaboratively develop and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment in referring unresolved and recurrent issues or problems.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or certification in Health Care field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts referring clinicians and connects them to 3D staff as needed.
  • Serves as telephone triage person for incoming calls to 3D Lab and transfers to appropriate service/individuals.
  • Acts as liaison for clinical teams needing to contact the 3D Lab.
  • Acts as liaison to technologists needing to contact physicians.
  • Investigates causes of problem studies and works to resolve issues with appropriate personnel.
  • Serves as a liaison to clinical departments.
  • Provides a centralized point of contact for clinical teams to interface with the 3D Lab.
  • Ensures that work areas are clean (desktops, trash bins, carpets, etc.) and involves appropriate manager for escalation as necessary.
  • Ensures that all ancillary support equipment is working properly and involves the appropriate manager for escalation and resolution.
  • Create performance appraisal and competencies/annual requirements (Healthstream, etc.) on time.
  • Actively participate in attaining professional goals.
  • Supports workflow coordination for advanced visualization and 3D post-processing services as needed.
