3D Computer Vision Researcher

Kitware
•$135,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Research and develop algorithms for photogrammetry, camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images and video. Current projects focus on aerial and satellite imagery, with opportunities to apply these capabilities to other data domains, including underwater imagery and synthetic aperture radar. The role contributes to open source applications and frameworks such as TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield, and explores how 3D vision can support other computer vision problems, including object detection and tracking, change detection, super resolution, and video compression. Kitware works with government R&D agencies, branches of the U.S. military, the Intelligence Community, and commercial organizations. The researcher may collaborate directly with customers, participate in field tests and demonstrations, publish research, and apply state-of-the-art AI approaches to real-world national security challenges.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience using multiview geometry to develop algorithms for building 3D point clouds, meshes, Gaussian Splats, or NeRFs from imagery or video.
  • Experience with AI/ML methods for 3D reconstruction or camera calibration.
  • Experience with good software development practices and proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
  • A strong publication record in top-tier research publications and conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV.
  • An innovative approach and a demonstrated record of solving difficult technical challenges using imagery.
  • Experience collaborating successfully with others and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual restrictions.
  • If not already cleared TS/SCI, willingness and ability to apply for and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Candidates should include a detailed list of publications in their resume or CV.
