About The Position

Research and develop computer vision algorithms for photogrammetry, camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images and video. Current projects emphasize aerial and satellite imagery, with opportunities to apply the work to other domains, including underwater imagery and synthetic aperture radar. The role contributes to open source applications and frameworks such as TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield, and explores how 3D vision can support broader computer vision problems such as object detection and tracking, change detection, super resolution, and video compression. The researcher will collaborate with government R&D agencies, military branches, the Intelligence Community, and commercial organizations. The role offers opportunities to work directly with customers, take part in field tests and demonstrations, publish research, and apply state-of-the-art AI to national security challenges. Researchers are supported in attending national and international conferences and may seek funding to develop their own research areas. Kitware is a research and development software company whose work supports fields including healthcare, national security, and advanced computing. It is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Employees work in a collaborative environment with flexibility in assignments, significant independence, and opportunities to take ownership of their work.
