About The Position

Kitware is seeking a 3D Computer Vision Researcher to research and develop algorithms for photogrammetry, camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images and video. Current projects emphasize aerial and satellite imagery, with opportunities to apply these capabilities to other domains, including underwater imagery and synthetic aperture radar. The work contributes to open source applications and frameworks such as TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield, and explores how 3D vision can support other computer vision problems, including object detection and tracking, change detection, super resolution, and video compression. The researcher will work with government R&D agencies, U.S. military branches, members of the Intelligence Community, and commercial organizations. The role offers opportunities to collaborate directly with customers, participate in field tests and demonstrations, publish research, present findings, and apply state-of-the-art AI methods to real-world national security challenges. Employees are supported in attending national and international conferences. The role may also involve seeking funding to grow and develop research areas, if desired. This position is open to U.S. citizens only due to contractual restrictions. Applicants who do not already hold a TS/SCI clearance must be willing and able to apply for and maintain one. Candidates should include a detailed list of publications with their resume or CV.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience using multiview geometry to develop algorithms for creating 3D point clouds, meshes, Gaussian Splats, or NeRFs from imagery or video.
  • Experience with AI/ML methods for 3D reconstruction or camera calibration.
  • Experience with good software development practices and proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
  • A strong publication record in top-tier research publications and conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV.
  • An innovative approach and a demonstrated record of solving difficult technical challenges using imagery.
  • Experience collaborating successfully with others and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • If not already TS/SCI-cleared, willingness and ability to apply for and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Include a detailed list of publications as part of the resume or CV.
