The 3D Computer Vision Researcher will research and develop algorithms for photogrammetry, camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images and video. Current projects emphasize aerial and satellite imagery, with opportunities to adapt these capabilities to other data domains, including underwater imagery and synthetic aperture radar. The work contributes to open source applications and frameworks such as TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield, and explores how 3D vision can support broader computer vision problems such as object detection and tracking, change detection, super resolution, and video compression. Kitware partners with government R&D agencies, branches of the U.S. military, members of the Intelligence Community, and commercial organizations. The role offers opportunities to collaborate directly with customers, participate in field tests and demonstrations, publish research, and apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to real-world national security challenges. Researchers collaborate with peers, present findings to customers and collaborators, and are encouraged to attend national and international conferences. They may also seek funding to develop their own research areas. Kitware describes its work as advancing science and making a positive impact. It is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and employees work in a collaborative environment with flexibility in assignments, significant independence, and opportunities to take ownership of their work.
