About The Position

Kitware is seeking a 3D Computer Vision Researcher to advance 3D vision research from algorithms to open-source applications. The role researches and develops algorithms for photogrammetry, camera calibration, registration, and 3D reconstruction from images and video. Current projects emphasize aerial and satellite imagery, with opportunities to apply these capabilities to other data domains, including underwater imagery and synthetic aperture radar. Work contributes to open-source applications and frameworks such as TeleSculptor, KWIVER, and Danesfield, and explores how 3D vision can support broader computer vision problems including object detection and tracking, change detection, super resolution, and video compression. The researcher will collaborate with customers and colleagues, participate in field tests and demonstrations, present and publish research, and apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence approaches to real-world national security challenges. Kitware supports participation in national and international conferences and, if desired, pursuing funding to develop individual research areas. The position is with Kitware, a research and development software company whose work spans healthcare, national security, and advanced computing. Kitware is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The company describes its environment as collaborative, with flexibility in assignments, significant independence, and opportunities to take ownership of work. Only U.S. citizens will be considered due to contractual restrictions. Candidates who do not already hold a TS/SCI clearance must be willing and able to apply for and maintain one. Candidates should include a detailed publication list with their resume or CV.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience using multiview geometry to develop algorithms for building 3D point clouds, meshes, Gaussian Splats, or NeRFs from imagery or video.
  • Experience with AI/ML methods for 3D reconstruction or camera calibration.
  • Experience with good software development practices and proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
  • A strong publication record in top-tier research publications and conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV.
  • An innovative approach and a demonstrated record of solving difficult technical challenges using imagery.
  • Experience collaborating successfully with others and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • If not already TS/SCI cleared, willingness and ability to apply for and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Include a detailed list of publications as part of the resume or CV.
