About The Position

The 3-1-1 Telecommunicator provides general information to customers and creates service requests for reports about City services, including water leaks, sewer problems, potholes, ditches, culverts, traffic signals and signs, dangerous buildings, and weeded lots. The employee may transfer calls to appropriate City personnel, research and resolve customer problems and inquiries, and help locate City of Houston personnel to respond to service requests. The role may also receive calls for non-dispatch police services and may be subject to being on call during emergency situations. Other related duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

The reporting location is 2805 McKinney St., 2nd Floor. Workdays and hours are full-time or part-time on various shifts, subject to change. The position is physically comfortable, with some discretion regarding walking and standing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of clerical or customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a high-volume call center environment.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Eligible veteran applicants may receive preference if they meet the stated qualifications and selection conditions.
