About The Position

As a 1st Assistant at Pratt Industries in Houston, you will support production press operators with setup, operation, and cleanup, monitor material quality, promote safe and efficient operations, and help optimize production schedules to meet cost, quality, and service goals. The role is in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where safety and quality are priorities.

You will assist operators in keeping machinery running smoothly, identify and report quality problems, maintain equipment and production-area cleanliness, complete reports, and submit maintenance work orders when repairs are needed. You will collaborate with team members, help train machine operators and helpers, and cross-train on other machines and equipment, with the potential to progress into operator roles. Management may assign additional duties.

The schedule is Monday from 1:45 PM to 11:45 PM and Tuesday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM. The listed pay rate is $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Prior experience in the corrugating industry and six months of experience in a similar role are mentioned; the posting's wording does not clearly state whether both are mandatory.
• Ability to identify and resolve minor malfunctions to keep equipment operating efficiently.
• Strong understanding of equipment design, quality standards, and product specifications.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols and maintain good housekeeping.
• Monitor product and board quality and address defects or other quality issues.
• Assist the machine operator with smooth machine operation and report quality problems.
• Help optimize production schedules and meet production goals.
• Cross-train on different machines and equipment as needed.
• Complete reports in a timely manner and submit maintenance work orders when repairs are necessary.
• Maintain equipment and production-area cleanliness.
• Train and assist fellow team members, including machine operators and helpers.
• Work collaboratively with others and adapt to changing production needs.
• Identify and resolve minor equipment malfunctions.
