About The Position

The 1st Assistant at Pratt Industries in Houston supports production press operators with equipment setup, operation, cleanup, and improvement recommendations. The role monitors material and product quality, promotes safe and efficient operations, and helps optimize production schedules to meet cost, quality, and service goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position works the following schedule: Monday, 1:45 p.m.–11:45 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 2:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. The listed pay rate is $17.00 per hour. The assistant helps maintain equipment and production-area cleanliness, trains and assists team members, completes reports, and submits maintenance work orders as needed. Cross-training on different machines and equipment may lead to opportunities to move into operator roles. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

Ability to identify and resolve minor equipment malfunctions to keep equipment running efficiently.
Strong understanding of equipment design, quality standards, and product specifications.
Ability to use measuring tools and perform calculations for various metrics.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks.
Specific vision abilities required for the job.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Prior experience in the corrugating industry and six months of experience in a similar role.
Lift Truck Operator License may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist machine operators with press setup, operation, cleanup, and production improvements.
Monitor product and board quality and address defects or other quality issues.
Follow safety protocols and maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
Support smooth machine operations, report quality problems, and help optimize production schedules.
Cross-train on different machines and equipment as needed.
Complete reports in a timely manner and submit maintenance work orders when repairs are needed.
Train and assist fellow team members, including machine operators and helpers.
Collaborate with coworkers to meet production goals and adapt to changing needs.
Help maintain equipment and production-area cleanliness.
Participate in resolving production challenges proactively.
Perform additional duties assigned by management.
