About The Position

Family Practice Center, PC has a full-time X-ray technician position available for the Watsontown Office location. The role involves operating radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians and performing routine diagnostic procedures. This position requires knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiology equipment, safety hazards, and the ability to properly position patients for quality imaging. The technician will also be responsible for developing and processing films, maintaining examination rooms, stocking supplies, and performing minor equipment adjustments. Additionally, the role includes participating in training, attending meetings, and maintaining patient confidentiality. HIPAA training and compliance are required, as is adherence to OSHA and FPC protocols.

Requirements

  • Certification with AART is required.
  • Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies
  • Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for radiography.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and testing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
  • Skill in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to identify problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • HIPAA training is required and HIPAA compliance is expected.
  • Follow procedures according to OSHA.
  • Follow procedures according to FPC protocol.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred.
  • Skill in training residents, student technologists and co-workers in equipment operation and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians.
  • Performs routine diagnostic procedures.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
  • Instructs patients regarding procedures.
  • Observes patients for vital signs during examination.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  • Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis.
  • Examines radiologic film for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Develops and processes radiologic film.
  • Maintains examination rooms.
  • Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
  • Aids physician in contrast studies.
  • Participates in training employees, residents, and student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.
