About The Position
UCT is seeking a Welder IV in Hillsboro, Oregon. The role performs precision welding work by interpreting instructions, prints, and work orders and planning the required procedures, tools, and materials. The Welder IV fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding metals, prepares surfaces, and ensures completed work receives appropriate inspection. The position also includes minor equipment maintenance, care of assigned tools and equipment, and consistent adherence to safety procedures. Reliable attendance is an essential job function. Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment, may be subject to frequent interruptions, and may require out-of-town travel for training or meetings depending on the assignment. The role requires wearing personal protective equipment where applicable and may involve exposure to welding fumes and other substances, electrical current, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and noise.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of welding experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Completion of a two-year vocational welding program or equivalent experience.
- Experience with manual and machine TIG/MIG welding.
- Experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AWS welding symbols.
- Ability to produce welds that pass visual inspection and destructive testing.
- Understanding of measuring devices, including micrometers, calipers, tape measures, squares, and rules.
- Knowledge of welding machines and setup.
- Ability to operate hand and air tools and electric grinders.
- Basic math skills, including conversions and calculations.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Receive instructions, prints, and work orders for assigned jobs.
- Plan work procedures and determine required tools and materials.
- Fabricate equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
- Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment and take responsibility for assigned tools and equipment.
- Inspect completed welding tasks as appropriate.
- Observe and follow safety procedures and policies.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
