About The Position

Requirements

• Learn and understand work-related safety hazards and safely use or operate relevant tools and equipment.
• Move around active construction and project sites, including uneven terrain and varying surface conditions.
• Access ground-level, overhead, and restricted-access work areas; climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated surfaces while following safety requirements.
• Frequently handle and use hand tools, power tools, equipment, instruments, and materials associated with assigned duties.
• Frequently move, position, push, pull, lift, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance or available mechanical devices.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others.
• Understand written, electronic, verbal, visual, and environmental information.
• Read, interpret, apply, and communicate work instructions, plans, specifications, company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Perform mathematical calculations and use measurement, estimation, and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain concentration, situational awareness, and attention to detail in environments with distractions and changing priorities.
• Make timely decisions using sound judgment related to safety, quality, productivity, and project requirements.

• Work outdoors in conditions that may include heat, cold, rain, humidity, wind, noise, and dust, and work in confined, restricted-access, or elevated locations when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Rodbuster or Rodbuster Foreman with spacing and fastening rods in forms according to blueprints, and positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh using fasteners and hand tools.
• Place blocks under rebar to hold the bars off the deck.
• Bend steel rods with hand tools and rodbending machines.
• Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce it.
• Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, or bar cutters.
• Assist other craft workers as needed.
