About The Position

Simon Maverick, an audio-focused, hybrid imprint of Simon & Schuster, is looking for an organized, self-starter who will work in an editorial and marketing capacity while being able to have a direct role in the publication of Simon Maverick titles across both audio and print formats. This role involves editorial responsibilities such as helping supervise and shepherd titles through the production pipeline, coordinating with production, scheduling publication dates, drafting P&Ls and contract proposals, drafting and editing tip sheets, and reading submissions. Marketing responsibilities include contributing to social media outreach, post preparation and scheduling, creating social media influencer databases, responding to reader and influencer outreach, and helping to create graphic design and video/audio content. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator, able to juggle tasks under deadline pressure, has some experience or interest in social media and/or graphic design, and eager to wear multiple hats within a fast-growing, fast-moving imprint.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience or internships in editorial or marketing
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet quick deadlines
  • Ability to keep track of numerous projects in varying stages of development, each with different production and publication needs
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Canva, and general computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain schedule for Simon Maverick titles, keeping the pipeline of materials flowing to production, and working with authors to schedule publication and promotion
  • Create P&Ls and contract proposals for title acquisition
  • Circulate manuscripts to production, publicity, marketing, and subrights
  • Handle general administrative responsibilities for Maverick editorial staff
  • Work with marketing team on content creation, outreach, and response
  • Help supervise and shepherd titles across all formats through the production pipeline
  • Coordinate with production
  • Schedule publication dates
  • Draft P&Ls and contract proposals
  • Draft and edit tip sheets
  • Read submissions
  • Contribute to Simon Maverick’s social media outreach
  • Prepare and schedule social media posts
