About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service. Responsibilities may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow-ups. The PA/NP will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach and will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students. The PA/NP will maintain the scope of practice consistent with regulatory guidelines and WakeMed policies. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (with valid nursing licensure)
  • DEA Required
  • Basic Life Support Required - Within 6 Months of Hire
  • Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant or Master's Degree Physician Assistant Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree Nursing Required

  • 1 Year Clinical - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed
  • Understand the needs of the organization and support the mission, values and management of WakeMed
