About The Position

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• PBT ASCP certified or equivalent (required)

Nice To Haves

• One year of phlebotomy experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and proficiency in specimen collection and processing.
• Ensure all lab requests are promptly stored in their specified locations.
• Perform Phlebotomy and point-of-care testing at various locations.
• Receive and collect patient and lab specimens, following proper collection procedures.
• Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and department procedures are followed.
• Double check and verify all information and patient identifiers before accessioning specimens into the Meditech LIS/HIS system.
• Ensure communication and coordination with staff for STAT, Urgent, and Routine requests.
• Log, sort, and safely transport specimens to appropriate laboratory sections or for send-outs.
• Accurately and efficiently perform proper specimen handling, processing, micro-culture set-up & gram stain.
• Perform technical and documentation tasks such as drawing blood, bar code labeling, and specimen handling.
• Keep laboratory and patient drawing areas, trays, and materials clean and orderly.
