Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field
  • 8 or more years of experience in a hotel sales and marketing environment
  • Direct supervisory experience over a sales team
  • Strong knowledge of local businesses and business trends
  • Must speak local language

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Director-level experience preferred
  • Other languages preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure revenue and room night sales goals are achieved.
  • Set sales and marketing strategies.
  • Create and implement tactical plans.
  • Monitor and achieve results.
  • Manage daily sales activities, plan and assign work ensuring appropriate staffing.
  • Develop team members through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals.
  • Recognize good performance.
  • Train colleagues to meet hotel revenue goals and provide them with the necessary tools.
  • Recommend or initiate HR-related actions.
  • Foster a positive working environment and encourage inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Interact with guests, vendors, and other contacts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts to increase revenue.
  • Achieve personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability.
  • Assist in preparing the departmental budget and financial plans, including the hotel marketing plan.
  • Create and implement sales plans to drive incremental occupancy, increase average rates, and boost volume, food and beverage, and banquet sales.
  • Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze market trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share, and monitor performance against revenue plans.
  • Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel.
  • Attend trade shows and major market events to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities.
  • Provide guests with information to enhance their experience.
  • Schedule conventions and/or business group activities and coordinate with departments to facilitate services.
  • Communicate pertinent information and special needs for arriving VIPs, large groups, and key guests to appropriate departments.
  • Lead marketing efforts to up-sell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities.
  • Work closely with key business leaders and local community groups for high-profile exposure.
  • Market sustainable aspects of the hotel to gain new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with advertising agencies, consulting firms, and vendors to maximize advertising investments.
  • Raise the awareness and reputation of the hotel and brand locally, acting as a representative for media inquiries.
  • Identify improvements for marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed.
