About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• At least three months of healthcare experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Experience as a Milk Technician, Pharmacy Technician, or Dietetic Technician.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
• Registered Dietetic Technician credential (DTR).

Responsibilities

• Calculate, prepare, deliver, and monitor specialized neonatal and pediatric formulas made from human milk, donor milk, and formula.
• Support daily formula-room operations and help ensure the safety of patients receiving prepared products.
• Assist the medical team with formula orders, substitutions, discharges, and special feeding needs.
• Maintain sterile technique during formula and breast milk preparation.
• Read, write, and perform the mathematical calculations needed to prepare infant formula and breast milk orders correctly.
• Prepare and deliver infant formula and breast milk as ordered.
• Maintain sufficient stock in the infant feeding room.
• Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation requirements, as well as HIPAA and OSHA/safety regulations.
• Complete paperwork documenting quantities of expressed human milk and fortifiers for preparation, inventory, billing, and tracking.
• Maintain daily inventory of expressed human milk and required supplies.
• Place orders to maintain adequate PAR levels of donor milk, fortifiers, and supplies.
• Put away received orders, rotate inventory, and dispose of expired inventory using FIFO.
• Clean and sanitize the work area and equipment using approved techniques and cleaning agents.
• Transcribe feeding-order information to prepare feeding labels.
• Follow established quality-assurance monitoring processes.
• Cross-train for coverage between the Pharmacy and Nutrition departments; perform Pharmacy Technician duties as needed if certified as a Pharmacy Technician.
