About The Position
The Costume and Wardrobe Assistant position at Waco Civic Theatre is intended for students passionate about fashion, design, or theatrical arts and offers real-world experience in costume design and management. The position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. The assistant helps create, alter, organize, maintain, and care for costumes and supports actors with fittings and quick changes during performances. The role also works closely with the costume designer to realize creative visions. The position has flexible working hours and a desired employment length of Fall/Spring. It pays $15 per hour. The work location is Waco Civic Theatre, 1517 Lake Air Dr, Waco, TX 76710.
Requirements
- Must be a Federal Work Study (FWS) student.
- Basic sewing skills.
- Basic knowledge of garment construction.
- Knowledge of costume maintenance, including cleaning, steaming, and organizing.
- Ability to assist with dressing and quick changes.
- Attention to detail.
- Communication and time management skills for assigned tasks.
- Patience and professionalism.
- Creativity and an eye for design.
Responsibilities
- Help design, create, and alter costumes for various productions.
- Organize and maintain the costume inventory, including creating a photo map and directory to help casts return costumes to the correct storage locations.
- Assist actors with quick changes and costume fittings during performances.
- Work closely with the costume designer to bring creative visions to life.
- Ensure costumes are cleaned and stored properly after shows.
