About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• At least 5 years of manufacturing experience with a high school degree; laboratory experience is preferred.
• Alternatively, at least 3 years of manufacturing experience with an associate or college degree; laboratory-environment experience is preferred.
• Understanding of statistical methodology.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Competency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to use precision measuring devices.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment in designated areas.
• Ability to work weekends when called upon.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Technical associate or college degree.
• Laboratory experience or experience in a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of Gagepack, Epicor, and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare samples for analysis, inspection, and final audit against in-house and customer specifications, following good laboratory practices.
• Perform in-process inspections and analyze products and processes against in-house, ISO, ASTM, IATF, and customer specifications.
• Compile and interpret laboratory test results and address potential anomalies in results.
• Monitor chemical processes and help resolve production issues in coordination with appropriate personnel.
• Produce and retrieve graphical results for lab managers or more senior personnel.
• Track inventory, prioritize orders, maintain laboratory equipment, and document chemical testing processes.
• Sterilize work surfaces and equipment before use and replace worn or damaged equipment as needed.
• Train new technicians on chemical processes and periodically update their knowledge of chemical technology.
• Record data and observations and communicate resulting information accurately, meaningfully, usefully, and promptly.
• Set up, inspect, perform preventive maintenance on, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Follow and maintain test, inspection, and calibration procedures.
• Prepare standards for testing.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and orderly work area.
• Contribute to continual improvement activities and procedural development and maintenance in the laboratory and other departmental areas.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, corporation, and community, and maintain the professional competence and knowledge needed for assigned responsibilities.
• Perform other individual assignments as directed by management.
