About The Position

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification.
• Pass a National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, or NCCT) to be certified as a Medical Assistant.
• Good oral and written communication skills for interacting with patients, physicians, advanced practitioners, and staff.
• Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions, policies, guidelines, and standards.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including extensive standing and walking, handling and lifting patients, and occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
• Corrected vision and hearing to the normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and with exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
• 1–2 years of experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and/or advanced practitioners with patient examinations and treatment.
• Prepare patients to be seen and perform specific procedures with appropriate orientation and supervision.
• Assist with patient phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Interview patients; measure vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; and record information in patient charts.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing as needed.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and keep rooms neat and clean.
• Assist with business operations, clerical tasks, medical records management, reception, and patient scheduling as needed.
• Demonstrate teamwork, support team members, and help achieve team, individual, and corporate goals.
• Perform other duties as required.
