YouTube Long-Form Editor

The Scalable Company
•$70,000 - $85,000

About The Position

The YouTube Long-Form Editor will own the end-to-end edit pipeline for two channels, Roland Frasier and Ryan Deiss (CEO), producing 3-4 long-form videos per month for each, totaling 3–6 hours of finished content per channel. This role involves transforming raw footage into engaging long-form videos with tight pacing, clean audio, deliberate B-roll, and a structure that maintains viewer attention. This is a strategic, hands-on craft and system-building role. The editor will be responsible for designing and refining foundational systems such as templates, asset libraries, project organization, and revision workflows in collaboration with the Senior Content Strategist. Success will be measured by on-time publishing, high retention rates, efficient revision processes, the quality of finished cuts, and the durability of the built workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-time experience editing long-form YouTube content (15+ minute videos).
  • Portfolio of at least 5 published long-form edits where you were the primary editor.
  • Comfortable building systems from scratch; experience as the first editor at a company or building your own pipeline in a freelance/agency-spinoff context.
  • Strong motion graphics and animation proficiency, including polished animated B-roll, kinetic typography, data visualizations, and motion design.
  • Expert-level Davinci Resolve Studio or Adobe Premiere Pro proficiency, including multicam, nested sequences, audio mixing, color correction, and proxy workflows.
  • Strong audio engineering instincts, including EQ, compression, and noise reduction.
  • Demonstrated storytelling instinct, understanding pacing, narrative structure, and viewer retention.
  • Frame.io (or equivalent review tool) proficiency for asset organization, revision loops, and version history management.
  • Self-management skills for meeting deadlines.
  • AI fluency, using AI tools daily (e.g., Opus 5.5, Premiere AI features, transcription, B-roll search) to increase speed and test more.
  • A workstation capable of editing 4K ProRes footage without performance issues.
  • Strong written communication skills for giving and receiving feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Color grading chops in DaVinci Resolve or experience with high-end Lumetri work.
  • Experience editing for a founder or CEO personal brand channel in the B2B or entrepreneurship niche.
  • Comfort cutting clips for short-form repurposing (Reels / Shorts / TikTok).
  • YouTube Studio analytics fluency, including the ability to interpret retention graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the long-form edit pipeline across both channels, taking raw footage to a publish-ready cut for 3-4 Roland Frasier videos per month (~30 min finished length each) and 3-4 Ryan Deiss videos per month (~30 min finished length each).
  • Build the foundational in-house edit workflow from scratch, including templates, asset organization, revision loops, feedback systems, and project archiving. The workflow should be documented well enough by month 3 for a future team member to plug into it with a 2-week ramp.
  • Build and refine each channel's edit signature, including pacing, B-roll usage, music/SFX choices, lower-thirds, and transitions, ensuring each channel feels distinct.
  • Manage project files, asset libraries, and version control in Frame.io and Premiere, ensuring projects are organized, archives are clean, and revisions are clearly tracked.
  • Direct creative decisions on cuts, pacing, and structure, delivering a draft ready for evaluation.
  • Iterate quickly on revision feedback, targeting ≤2 revision rounds per video.
  • Analyze YouTube Studio retention curves on published videos and adjust future edits based on audience drop-off points.
  • Proactively flag issues in raw footage before extensive editing.
  • Ensure videos ship on cadence across both channels.
  • Develop recognizable and distinct edit signatures for both Roland's and Ryan's channels.
  • Maintain clean, archived, and findable project files.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Content Strategist on creative direction and feedback.
  • Collaborate directly with Ryan Deiss and Roland Frasier on creative direction and feedback.
