About The Position

ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars) is seeking passionate and committed part-time Youth Volleyball Coaches to lead after-school sports enrichment classes for K–5th grade students in Oakland and the greater East Bay during the Winter/Spring 2027 season. Coaches lead weekly classes for children ages 5–10, teach the fundamentals of sports through fun, game-filled lesson plans, and help promote sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity. No previous coaching experience is required; training, equipment, and ongoing support are provided. The season runs from January through May 2027, and coaches must be available for the entire season. The commitment is 2–15 hours per week, depending on the number of classes taught. Classes generally take place between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the same day each week, last 1–1.5 hours, and run for 10–14 weeks. Coaches must be available in the afternoon at least one day per week. The ANTS team works with coaches to assign one or more partner elementary school locations that work best for them. Coaches must attend an in-person orientation, arrive on time for weekly classes, set up and clean up, and transport coaching equipment to and from class. Candidates must have reliable transportation; a vehicle is helpful. Successful candidates must pass a federal and state background check and/or FBI fingerprinting (Livescan), and test negative for TB based on a test within the last four years. Pay is $25–$35 per hour. Strong coaches may be invited to return for the full school year or for summer and weekend programs.
