About The Position

The Jackson Lehman Family YMCA is seeking an attentive, responsible team player to serve as a Youth Sports Referee and help ensure quality standards in YMCA youth sports programs. The referee supports a fun learning experience for children, maintains a safe and orderly playing environment, responds to emergencies when needed, and connects warmly with participants. The role is part-time, with Saturday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Jackson R. Lehman YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years old.
Be able to work weekend hours.
Have reliable transportation to and from work.
Be able to work in an athletic-oriented atmosphere while maintaining structure and control.
Be able to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.

Nice To Haves

Two seasons of experience in a specific sport, either officiating or playing.

Responsibilities

Provide a fun experience for children as they learn while participating in sports programs.
