About The Position

The Jackson Lehman Family YMCA is seeking an attentive, responsible team player to referee youth sports and help ensure quality standards for YMCA youth sports programs. The role focuses on creating a fun learning experience for children, maintaining a safe and efficient playing environment, responding to emergencies when needed, and connecting warmly with participants. This is a part-time position at the Jackson R. Lehman YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Available hours are Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 16 years old.
• Ability to work weekend hours.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to work in an athletic-oriented atmosphere while maintaining structure and control.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

• Two seasons of experience in a specific sport, either officiating or playing.

Responsibilities

• Provide a fun experience for children as they learn while participating in sports programs.
• Maintain a safe and efficient playing environment and respond to emergencies when needed.
