About The Position

The Youth Sports Official officiates youth sports programs in accordance with the parameters established by the YMCA of Greater Louisville and supervises practices throughout the season. The role includes maintaining fields and gyms in a safe, efficient manner while fostering positive relationships with participants, members, and staff. The official monitors policies and procedures for programs and the volunteers and staff involved. A sincere interest in working with and teaching youth sports principles and Christian values is required. The position is based at the Southeast Family YMCA in Louisville, Kentucky, is part-time, and requires 10–20 hours per week with weekend availability.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 15.
• Be a team player with a personal commitment to the YMCA mission, philosophy, and character development values.
• Be personable, outgoing, and service oriented.
• Have the ability to resolve issues or conflicts on the field.
• Have excellent oral communication skills.
• Be extremely organized, accurate, and proficient.
• Be available to work 10–20 hours per week, including weekends.
• Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first 90 days.
• Uphold the YMCA mission and demonstrate a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
• Be able to hear, see, and speak.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Be able to jog up and down a field or court.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with youth ages 3–14; training may be provided.
• Athletic background.
