About The Position

The Youth Sports Official officiates youth sports programs in accordance with the parameters established by the YMCA of Greater Louisville and supervises practices throughout the season. The role maintains fields and gyms in a safe and efficient manner while fostering positive relationships with program participants, members, and staff. The official monitors policies and procedures for programs, volunteers, and staff, and demonstrates a sincere interest in working with and teaching youth ages 3–14 the principles of sports and Christian values. The position is part-time, approximately 10–20 hours per week, and requires weekend availability.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 15.
• Personal commitment to the YMCA mission, philosophy, and character development values; ability to work as a team player.
• Personable, outgoing, and service-oriented.
• Ability to resolve issues or conflicts on the field.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Extremely organized, accurate, and proficient.
• Must be available weekends.
• CPR and First Aid certification within the first 90 days.
• Ability to hear, see, and speak.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to jog up and down a field or court.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with youth ages 3–14; training may be provided if experience is lacking.
• Athletic background.
