About The Position

Residential Assistants (RA’s) are responsible for attending to all youth-related needs during their scheduled work shift. This includes monitoring youth during their daily living activities and completing all relevant documentation, using trauma informed care to provide a safe environment for healing and recovery. NARA Northwest is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit, FQHC committed to providing education, physical, mental health services, and substance abuse treatment that is culturally appropriate to American Indians, Alaska Natives, and anyone in need. The organization strongly supports sobriety and requires employees to adhere to a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policy, including modeling alcohol sobriety.

Requirements

Current, active driver's license
Current, active auto insurance
Over the age of 23 (per our insurance policy)
Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with youth clients and staff members
Demonstrated ability to treat youth clients and staff with respect and dignity
Pre-employment or for cause drug tests - including marijuana
Criminal background and DMV checks
CPR, CPI, and Food Handlers cards are required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

Experience in substance use/abuse treatment with youth
Understanding of 12-step philosophy and youth treatment modalities.
Addiction Counseling certificate or knowledge a plus
Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision to youth throughout daily treatment activities.
Build positive, professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Conduct routine safety checks.
Administer medications as authorized and maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs).
Utilize trauma-informed approaches to support youth emotional, behavioral, and recovery needs.
Foster a safe, respectful, and structured environment.
Support youth engagement in treatment goals, recovery activities, and daily routines.
Supervise and assist with chores, personal responsibility tasks, and community living expectations.
Complete required documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, medication records, and resident updates.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming living environment.
Transport youth to appointments, activities, school, or other approved destinations as needed.
