About The Position

A Youth Mentor works with a group of 3 children at a time on our 22 acre campus. They walk alongside the children in our care as they receive treatment and work towards goals specific to their needs. All the children in our care have experienced serious trauma and have intense behavioral issues. Youth Mentors participate in a variety of outdoor activities with the kids, such as basketball, volleyball, hiking, fishing, and rollerblading, as well as indoor activities like movies and games. Youth Mentors are role models for children, meeting them where they are in their phase of treatment, building quality relationships, and setting healthy boundaries using a Trauma Informed Care approach. The Youth Mentors are critical to the successful treatment process for these children.

Requirements

Must be at least 19 years of age.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year experience working with children, verifiable through references.
Valid Driver’s License to transport residents in agency vehicles.

Responsibilities

Work with a group of 3 children at a time.
Walk alongside children in care as they receive treatment and work towards goals.
Participate in a variety of outdoor activities with the children (e.g., basketball, volleyball, hiking, fishing, rollerblading).
Engage in other activities with the children, such as movies, games, drawing, and other hobbies.
Serve as role models for children.
Meet children where they are in their phase of treatment.
Build quality relationships with children.
Set healthy boundaries using a Trauma Informed Care approach.
