About The Position

This is a Non-exempt, Non-management position reporting to the Prevention Director. The Youth Prevention Education & Youth Advisory Committee Coordinator is primarily responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a youth-led, adult-supported Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) focused on prevention initiatives. This role also coordinates the implementation of evidence-based substance use prevention curricula for youth, including program logistics, curriculum delivery, assessment, and reporting. The coordinator must maintain compliance with best-practice standards, manage program documentation and reporting, and participate in professional development. Collaboration with the Prevention Team and external partners is essential, as is developing and delivering engaging presentations and workshops for youth. The role involves cultivating a positive and inclusive environment within the YAC, representing the organization at community events, and facilitating the creation and dissemination of promotional materials. Providing ongoing support and guidance to youth participants, evaluating program effectiveness, and performing other assigned duties are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

Proficient in delivering presentations and teaching, with expertise in classroom management techniques and experience working with middle and high school students.
Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills, coupled with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse groups of students, youth, and stakeholders.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, fostering a positive and effective work dynamic.
Proficient in utilizing computer software and technology tools, including Microsoft Word/Excel, Canva, and Google Drive.
In-depth knowledge of current developments, literature, and best practices in the field of alcohol and substance use prevention, as well as strategies for building protective factors in youth and families.
Familiarity with youth leadership development principles and techniques for empowering both youth and adults.
Comfortable and adept at navigating various communication platforms and technology tools to facilitate engagement and collaboration among stakeholders.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Additional certifications or coursework in substance use prevention and youth development are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a youth-led, adult-supported Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) focused on prevention initiatives, facilitating regular meetings and fostering leadership development among committee members.
Coordinating the implementation of evidence-based substance use prevention curricula for youth, including program logistics, curriculum delivery, assessment, and reporting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Maintain compliance with best-practice standards and evidence-based guidelines for youth prevention education and advisory committee operations, adhering to funding requirements and organizational policies.
Manage program documentation and reporting, including maintaining accurate records, preparing program files, collecting and analyzing data, and submitting comprehensive reports to organizational leadership and funding agencies.
Participate in mandatory training sessions and professional development opportunities, acquiring and applying new knowledge and skills related to prevention education, youth leadership, and program management.
Collaborate with the broader Prevention Team and external partners to support additional prevention programs and initiatives, contributing to the success of community-wide prevention efforts.
Develop and deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and educational materials for youth audiences, utilizing various mediums to effectively convey prevention messages and promote positive behavior change.
Cultivate a positive and inclusive environment within the Youth Advisory Committee, fostering teamwork, creativity, and empowerment among youth members to drive impactful prevention activities.
Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and forums, serving as a spokesperson for youth prevention efforts and building relationships with key stakeholders and community partners.
Facilitate the creation and dissemination of promotional materials, including social media content, newsletters, and press releases, to raise awareness of prevention programs and engage the broader community.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to youth participants, offering mentorship, advocacy, and resources to enhance their leadership skills and involvement in prevention initiatives.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance the impact and reach of prevention efforts.
