Youth Onsite Sports Coordinator - Part Time - Parks & Recreation Fieldhouse
About The Position
As a Youth Sports Coordinator for Blue Springs Parks Recreation, you will be responsible for various aspects of running and supervising Youth Sports League games which may include Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, and more! Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Skilled in effective verbal communication and reacting professionally during emergencies.
- Ability to work independently and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work well with patrons of all ages.
- Ability to concentrate and accomplish tasks despite interruptions and perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear frequently; must be able to frequently use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or office machines; must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms; must be able to occasionally lift, move, push, pull, or transport up to 50 pounds at least 25 feet; must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus frequently.

- Previous applicable sports experience is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure courts and/or playing fields are prepared for gameplay- inspect fields and courts for safety hazards and ensure player/spectator seating is set up.
- Communicate with team captains and spectators to assist teams and answer questions when needed. Notify teams of any schedule changes and rule interpretations. Distribute revised schedules to team captains when needed.
- Communicate with officials at the start of games and throughout the evening. Assist officials in handling protests, player/spectator conflicts, and dealing with weather-related issues.
- Manage courts and fields during games- scorekeeping- running the scoreboard and/or tracking on the paper scoresheet. Secure courts, fields, and equipment after games are completed, monitor spectators, maintain records (accident and incident reports, discipline/ejection, timesheets), collect and report all game scores and team roster/waiver forms to Recreation Supervisor.
- Obey and comply with all City of Blue Springs, Blue Springs Parks and Recreation, State and Local ordinances and policies.
- Adjust pitching distances in accordance with tournament scheduling grid.
- Assist with concession stand operations when needed. Ensure proper cash handling and cash register procedures are followed to provide accurate record of sales. Follow proper closing procedures at end of shift.
