About The Position

ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars) seeks part-time Youth Multi-Sport Coaches to lead or assist with weekly after-school sports programs at partner elementary school communities in Walnut Creek during the Winter/Spring 2027 season. The season runs January through May 2027, and coaches must be available for the entire season. The role involves coaching children ages 5–10 in sports such as soccer, flag football, basketball, and tennis. ANTS provides training, equipment, and ongoing support. Coaches typically work 5–10 hours per week, depending on the number of classes assigned. Classes are held at community parks, tennis courts, and elementary schools. Great coaches may receive offers to work in future seasons.

Requirements

• Must be available for the entire January–May 2027 season.
• Reliable transportation to coaching sites; a vehicle is helpful because equipment may need to be transported.
• Responsible and professional, including arriving on time and keeping accurate attendance.
• Strong communication skills; communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff by email and phone.
• Enthusiastic, positive role model who supports sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity.
• Patient and understanding of young children's development at their own pace.
• Must pass a federal and state background check and/or FBI fingerprinting (Livescan).
• Must test negative for TB; the test must be within the last four years.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of experience as a player or coach is highly valuable but optional.

Responsibilities

• Lead a fun and safe weekly sports practice for children ages 5–10.
• Teach sports fundamentals through a cohesive, game-filled lesson plan.
• Arrive on time on the assigned program day each week throughout the season.
• Attend an in-person orientation training.
• Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff.
• Set up before and clean up after each program.
• Transport sports coaching equipment to and from class each week.
• Keep accurate attendance.
