About The Position

Redeemer Brooklyn is seeking a self-starter and innovative leader to build our Youth Ministry from the ground up. This individual will be responsible for pioneering a relational community where middle and high school students (grades 6–12) are seen, heard, and empowered to take ownership of their faith in Jesus. This is an entrepreneurial role for a candidate who can create new systems, recruit a founding volunteer team, and design engaging gospel-centered programming for the youth of Brooklyn.

Requirements

  • A positive Christian role model with a contagious love for God and a heart for Brooklyn/NYC.
  • Committed to the theology and traditions of the Reformed faith and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
  • Four-year undergraduate degree required.
  • Proven ability to build trust with youth.
  • Experience in an urban ministry context.
  • Must be a self-starter with high emotional maturity and the ability to adapt to change during unexpected situations.
  • Proficient in Google Workplace and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate work in theology or counseling preferred.
  • Experience with Slack or Asana is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a strategic roadmap to launch and grow the Brooklyn Youth Ministry.
  • Develop highly engaging, theologically sound large and small group experiences tailored to the unique culture of Brooklyn youth.
  • Create and implement an innovative outreach plan to connect with uninvolved and unchurched youth in the community.
  • Foster authentic, discipling relationships by meeting students one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Provide gospel-oriented teaching and develop lesson plans for weekly meetings and Bible studies.
  • Walk alongside parents/guardians, providing resources and pastoral care to partner in the spiritual nurturing of their children.
  • Recruit, screen, and train a dedicated team of volunteers, ensuring adherence to Child Protection Policies.
  • Provide ongoing training and community-building opportunities for the volunteer team.
  • Manage space requests, catering, and supplies for all youth events and Sunday activities.
  • Develop the youth ministry calendar and communication efforts to keep families and the congregation informed.
  • Ensure all programming follows church policies regarding safety and security.
