Youth In Government Advisor (Appleton, WI)
About The Position
The YMCA of the Fox Cities is hiring a part-time Youth in Government Advisor for its nationally recognized program. The program helps students develop an understanding of civic engagement, leadership, and the state-level democratic process. Youth gain real-world experience in roles such as legislators, justices, media professionals, attorneys, and cabinet members. They research and draft bills, debate policy, report on civic affairs, and participate in a multi-day, youth-led model State Conference. The advisor helps build students’ confidence, public-speaking abilities, critical thinking, civic responsibility, and leadership skills. Hours are primarily in the evenings.
Requirements
- Ability to mentor teens in civic education.
- Interest in government processes and civic affairs.
- Strong communication skills.
