About The Position

This Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator will function as part of the Harrisburg Ministry Team and will invest oneself in the lives of young people and their families, developing and maintain relational ministry opportunities. To conduct an ongoing and aggressive evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing Children and their families to Jesus Christ. To provide an environment and ministry opportunities in which children, teens, and young adults can grow and mature in their faith and grow into a walk of Holiness. The Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator provides visionary leadership for all children's, teen, young adult, and family ministries at The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region Corps. This individual develops and leads Christ-centered programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, outreach, and family engagement while building meaningful relationships throughout the community. The role includes overseeing youth ministries, music and arts, recreation, nursery operations, volunteer leadership, and evangelistic programming, with the goal of connecting individuals and families to the life of the church. Working as part of the ministry leadership team, the coordinator collaborates across all departments, participates in community outreach and Salvation Army events, supports Sunday worship and Christian education, and helps advance the overall mission of The Salvation Army through compassionate service, intentional discipleship, and excellence in ministry. This is a ministry position requiring a mature and active Christian faith that is consistent with the doctrines and mission of The Salvation Army. The successful candidate must demonstrate Christ-like character, actively participate in the worship and ministry life of The Salvation Army, and serve as a positive Christian role model while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and personal conduct. This is a ministry position requiring a mature and active Christian faith that is consistent with the doctrines and mission of The Salvation Army. The successful candidate must demonstrate Christ-like character, actively participate in the worship and ministry life of The Salvation Army, and serve as a positive Christian role model while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and personal conduct. Requirements

  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Solid and mature Christian faith; Salvationist preferred, attending the Corps.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Music & Arts experience.
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and in writing.
  • Computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Must treat all people with compassion and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills within The Salvation Army required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires completion of PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
