As a Youth Facility Security Officer - Access Gatehouse in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • Be able to satisfy COLA DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
  • Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
  • Monitor and control access points by verifying credentials, screening visitors, documenting entries and exits, and communicating access procedures to staff, residents, and approved guests.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report relevant details according to site protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter to help identify unusual activity, unsecured areas, and/or policy concerns.
  • Support daily operations by maintaining accurate logs, observing resident movement and visitor activity, and communicating security-related information to site personnel and Allied Universal leadership.
