About The Position

As a Youth Facility Security Officer - Access Entry in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. In this role, you will manage access control, verify credentials, monitor entry activity, and support a professional, orderly environment. You will remain visible, conduct routine patrols, and provide strong customer service and communication that help to deter security-related incidents. Requirements

  • A tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required in accordance with COLA, DPSS, and DHS requirements.
  • Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, identification checks, and security-related policies at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials, manage visitor logs, and help to deter unauthorized access in accordance with post orders and location requirements.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency responders when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unusual activity, unsecured areas, and/or policy violations, with working conditions varying by assignment.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports of daily activities, access control events, and incidents, and report maintenance concerns, hazards, and/or suspicious behavior through established channels.
