About The Position

This recruitment will be filled as a Youth Development Associate or Youth Development Specialist depending on your qualifications. The Youth Development Associate/Specialist role involves mentoring, overseeing, and working closely with high-risk/violent youth offenders. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising individual and group activities, writing court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards. The role also involves assisting with teaching pro-social, academic, and vocational skills, implementing specialized treatment plans, and co-facilitating sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. A key responsibility is passing the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment and providing crisis intervention when necessary. The position requires resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety, transporting youth, and communicating information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

• Youth Development Associate: Two years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, two years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal two years.
• Youth Development Specialist: Four years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, four years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal four years.
• A valid Utah Driver's License.
• Paid work at any JJYS facility, Utah State Hospital, Utah State Developmental Center, private residential youth programs, alternative schools (working with at-risk or delinquent youths), juvenile probation/parole, Law enforcement, Correctional Officer, or programs that work with at-risk or delinquent youths.
• Must pass the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, oversee and work closely with high risk/violent youth offenders
