About The Position
JJYS Youth Development Associate/Specialist (School Based Outreach) - Washington County. This role involves teaching essential life skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and resiliency to youth in school and community settings. The position requires establishing collaborative relationships with various agencies, including the Local Mental Health Authority, School District, Law Enforcement Agencies, DCFS, and Probation, to ensure youth accountability and inform families about available community resources. A key aspect of the role is mentoring select youth and their families, focusing on skills like positive discipline, routine, responsibility, time management, rules and rewards, communication, and creating wholesome traditions. The role also involves overseeing and working closely with high-risk/volatile youth with complex behavioral problems, assessing client needs (physical, mental, social, and behavioral), and developing and implementing individualized treatment plans. This includes conducting individual, family, or group counseling sessions, identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and control intervention techniques, and supervising youth with complex behavioral needs. The position requires writing court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards. Additionally, the role may involve leading or functionally supervising staff, delegating work assignments, monitoring work quality, scheduling staff, providing technical assistance or training, and contributing to performance appraisals, hiring, and discipline decisions. Decisions made must be consistent with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. The role also includes transporting youth and requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Employees must pass the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment.
Requirements
- Two years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, two years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal two years.
- A valid Utah Driver's License.
- Four years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, four years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal four years.
- A valid Utah Driver's License.

Responsibilities
- Teach problem solving, decision making, goal setting, and resiliency skills through quick interactive lessons in the school and community

- Speaks clearly, concisely and effectively. Is able to listen to (and understand) information as presented verbally. Will need to be able to read and understand written information.
