About The Position

This is a Full-Time position for a JJYS Technician II at the Washington County Youth Center. The role involves working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS, monitoring the facility, scheduling activities, assisting with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations. New hires will undergo a week of New Employee Training and a week of de-escalation training within their first 90 days. The position also includes transporting youth and providing a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs for youth offenders while ensuring public safety. The job requires clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
  • Candidates 19 years of age or older
  • Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
  • A valid Utah Driver's License
  • Work requires physical exertion and requires the ability to stand, walk over rough surfaces, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
  • Transport Youth
  • Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety.
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
