About The Position

The JJYS Food Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing food service operations at the Slate Canyon Youth Center. This role involves menu planning, ordering supplies, ensuring food quality and safety standards, and supervising food service personnel. The position requires a strong understanding of food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, and safety protocols. The supervisor will also be responsible for training and evaluating staff, managing budgets, and maintaining records. This is an in-office/on-site position with full-time status.

Requirements

  • Certificate/ServSafe Certification
  • Basic knowledge of the principals of dietetics/nutrition
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking
  • The ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions
  • The physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Two years of formal food service training and three years food service management experience, or a combination of training and experience in a food service management position to equal five years
  • Experience within the Food Service Industry and has supervisory experience.
  • A valid Utah Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Plans menus, determines amounts to be prepared and how leftovers should be utilized
  • Orders and receives equipment, merchandise, materials, and supplies
  • Inspects and maintains food quality, handling, and safety standards
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
  • Provides assistance and/or on-the-job training
  • Supervises personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions
  • Supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency
  • Performing repetitive tasks and physical movements such as standing/walking continuously, lifting (50 pounds or more), bending, turning, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders.
