Youth Cheer Coach - East Valley Area
About The Position
ACTIVSTARS is hiring a part-time Youth Cheer Coach for the East Valley area. The coach will lead youth ages 4–15 in cheerleading and cheer dance, teaching three age-group teams one evening per week on a consistent weekday throughout the semester. Training begins upon hire for the current semester, with the goal of preparing new coaches to lead a location as a head coach for the Fall 2026 season. Coaches also participate in three or four paid weekend events each semester, with dates set in advance. Paid training covers the organization’s teaching guidelines and record-keeping, and includes assisting an experienced coach to observe how classes are conducted. ACTIVSTARS has offered youth programs in communities across the country for 41 years and emphasizes having fun while learning.
Requirements
- Previous cheerleading experience.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have reliable transportation on a weekly basis.
- Be enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about cheerleading.
- Be able to lead by example and serve as a role model for youth.
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching children.
- Experience choreographing cheer or dance routines and performance-oriented cheers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare practices and lesson plans.
- Teach students cheerleading safely and effectively.
- Oversee practice check-ins.
- Choreograph dance routines and performance-oriented cheers appropriate to each team level.
- Teach team stunting fundamentals and oversee their execution.
- Maintain basic records.
- Participate in three or four paid weekend events each semester.
- Attend paid training sessions and assist a veteran coach to observe class instruction.
