About The Position

ACTIVSTARS is hiring youth cheer coaches for its recreational sports program in the Phoenix Metro area. The position involves coaching children ages 4–15 in cheerleading and cheer dance, including some use of poms. Coaches work one consistent evening per week during the semester and coach three age groups. The role is described as part-time, with paid training beginning upon hire for the current session and the goal of having new coaches lead a location as head coach for the Fall 2026 season. Coaches prepare practices and lesson plans, teach safely and effectively, oversee practice check-ins, choreograph routines and performance-oriented cheers for each team level, teach team stunting fundamentals and execution, and maintain basic records. Coaches also participate in three or four paid weekend events each semester, with dates set in advance. Paid training covers organizational teaching guidelines and recordkeeping, and includes observing an experienced coach conduct classes.

Requirements

Previous cheerleading experience.
At least 18 years old.
Enjoy working with children ages 4–15.
Reliable transportation on a weekly basis.
Enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about cheerleading.
Able to lead by example and serve as a role model to youth.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching children.
Experience choreographing cheer or dance routines and performance-oriented cheers.

Responsibilities
