Youth Cheer Coach - West and North Phoenix Areas
About The Position
ACTIVSTARS is hiring part-time youth cheer coaches for locations across the West Valley and North Phoenix areas, with additional Greater Phoenix Metro locations considered for expansion. Coaches work with children ages 4–15, teaching cheerleading and cheer dance fundamentals, with some use of poms. The role is one evening per week on a consistent day throughout the semester and includes three or four paid weekend events each semester, with dates set in advance. New coaches begin paid training upon hire for the current session. Training covers the organization’s teaching guidelines and record-keeping, and includes assisting a veteran coach to observe how classes are conducted. The goal is for new coaches to take a location as head coach for the Fall 2026 season. ACTIVSTARS has specialized in youth programs in communities across the country for 41 years and emphasizes having fun while learning.
Requirements
- Previous cheerleading experience.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have reliable transportation on a weekly basis.
- Be enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about cheerleading.
- Be able to lead by example and serve as a role model to youth.
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching children.
- Experience choreographing cheer or dance routines and performance-oriented cheers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for practices and create lesson plans.
- Teach students safely and effectively.
- Oversee practice check-ins.
- Choreograph dance routines and performance-oriented cheers appropriate to each team level.
- Teach team stunting fundamentals and execution.
- Complete basic record-keeping.
- Attend three or four paid weekend events each semester.
