About The Position

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. Employment in this title is restricted to students enrolled in and attending high school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a high school student. The program includes a first year focused on orientation and introduction to work, followed by years two and three where skills develop and greater responsibility is delegated. The role involves learning about the NYC Discretionary Award Process, contract development, program quality monitoring, and supporting communities through Awardees. Responsibilities include conducting outreach to contracted providers, tracking project progress, and assisting with DYCD inter-unit and other special projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a student enrolled in and attending high school.
  • Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a high school student.
  • Fulfillment of all minimum requirements for age prescribed by the New York State Department of Labor for Registered Apprenticeships.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow DAP staff and learn about the NYC Discretionary Award Process, contract development, program quality monitoring and compliance, and supporting communities through Awardees.
  • Conduct outreach to contracted providers by updating CBO contact information in DAP systems and obtaining End of Year Reports and/or assisting with desk reviews.
  • Track project progress by collecting and analyzing data and preparing summary reports.
  • Assist with DYCD inter-unit and other special projects, representing DAP as a liaison.
  • As skills develop and experience increases, take on greater responsibility and involvement in the above tasks.
