  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Established mechanical design process knowledge and cross-functional team participation.
  • Working knowledge of Ansys or other finite element analysis tools.
  • External vendor or supplier development experience.
  • Design experience with rotating-component yaw subsystem components, such as yaw drives, yaw tower bolts, yaw brakes, or hydraulic systems.
  • System design experience, including interface definition, DFMEA, and design for manufacturability, installation, and serviceability.
  • Hydraulic design experience, including specifying accumulator volume and pre-charge pressure and sizing orifices and hoses.
  • Knowledge of ISO-4406 cleanliness requirements for components and filtration methods to achieve those requirements.
  • Famic Automation Studio hydraulic analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute projects for new product introduction, new technology integration, and field issue resolution, emphasizing quality and reliability verified through physical testing.
  • Design wind-turbine yaw system components, focusing on hydraulic pressure unit systems, high-speed brakes, and yaw brakes, including component design, system interaction, and reliability.
  • Own and incorporate lessons learned, best practices, and standardization into design documentation, including design practices, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Develop testing and validation plans to prove component function and reliability.
  • Develop innovative design solutions that meet timing, product cost, and reliability targets.
  • Ensure the quality of new and revised drawings, bills of materials, and specifications in accordance with GE Vernova and industry processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support, and other stakeholders to improve product quality and first-time yield.
  • Support manufacturing, sourcing, and field teams with issue resolution and corrective actions for design-related causes, including NCR, SDR, and PAC issues.
  • Conduct timely and complete technical root-cause analysis of field failures and identify design-related corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and execute cost-saving ideas and strategies.
  • Introduce advanced technology, materials, manufacturing methods, and design tools and methods to advance the strategic position of yaw subsystem components.
