About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Yard Worker performs a variety of yard activities, including operating a forklift to move products and materials throughout the yard, and providing customer service. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work is performed primarily outdoors and is subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise, and dust.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and six months of experience performing these or similar tasks, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
OSHA Forklift Certification required.
Ability to operate motorized and non-motorized material-handling equipment.
Knowledge of safety procedures relevant to the work.
Strong customer service skills.
Knowledge of company products and inventory at the work location.
Ability to follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions using common-sense understanding.
Ability to read and understand invoices and requisitions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and, on occasion, up to 80 pounds.
Ability to climb into and out of forklift equipment, twist the torso for 360-degree visibility, and use arms to operate controls.

Responsibilities

Assist customers in locating and loading products.
Review materials loaded against invoices or requisitions, and complete and route paperwork appropriately.
Move products and materials throughout the yard, ensuring they are placed in the correct areas.
Keep products and materials well stocked in inventory.
Perform routine yard cleanup.
Follow safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self and coworkers; attend safety meetings as required and may recommend improvements to safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
