About The Position

The Yard Switcher is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within a designated yard or terminal. The position supports the flow of transportation and timely transfer of goods by organizing trailer movements and maintaining accurate location records. The role also includes equipment inspections, following safety procedures, communicating with drivers and team members, and helping keep the yard clean and organized.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Proven experience operating yard switcher equipment or similar vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to yard operations.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse team.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and operate yard switcher equipment.
• Physical strength and agility to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as connecting and disconnecting trailers.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard switcher equipment to move trailers and containers to specified locations.
• Coordinate with dispatchers and other yard personnel to prioritize and execute trailer movements.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard switcher equipment and report any issues.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, arrivals, and departures.
• Follow safety regulations and procedures, including proper coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
• Communicate with truck drivers, warehouse staff, and other team members.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard.
