About The Position

Ziegler CAT is hiring a full-time Yard & Shop Helper to support its shops. The role maintains neat and orderly shop, yard, and loading bay areas; supplies tools, materials, and supplies to other workers; cleans work areas, machines, and tools; and assists customers with loading and unloading parts and equipment. The position also supports shipping and receiving, facility and grounds upkeep, and other departments as requested. The work may take place indoors and/or outdoors, and noise levels may be loud at times. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of experience in a shop or yard, including operating equipment and forklifts.
Dependable, self-starting, and hardworking.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Team player willing to help wherever needed.
Ability to maintain a safe and organized work area.
Ability to operate required equipment safely, including examples such as forklifts, sprayers, and equipment.
Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds and lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
Ability to lift bulky objects.
Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, stair and ladder climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, crawling, and fingering or grasping.

Responsibilities

Transfer tools, components, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from workstations and other areas.
Assist with shop and facility cleanup and maintenance.
Ship and receive components on nightly shuttle trucks.
Provide assistance to other departments as requested.
Promptly greet and assist customers in the yard and loading bay.
Safely load and unload customer trucks and pickups.
Maintain a clean and orderly loading bay area.
Clean and maintain component washers.
Clean equipment using proper equipment.
Clean and maintain grounds, parking lots, and other areas as assigned.
Clean and maintain the large steam room and/or wash bay.
Work cooperatively with the team and superiors.
