About The Position

The Yard Helper works at Pennex’s Wellsville, Pennsylvania location and assists with loading and unloading aluminum, dealer scrap, internally generated scrap, miscellaneous metals, billet, and logs. The role uses a forklift to handle materials arriving from suppliers and products leaving the yard. The employee keeps material records, checks incoming shipments, and adjusts work activities to support production schedules. The position also involves helping dump trailers loaded with scrap and completing other assigned duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, several years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Forklift experience is required.
Must possess a valid forklift operator’s license.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to present information in one-on-one situations to supervisors and co-workers.
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Must maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

Keep records of materials received and used.
Inspect incoming materials and verify bills of lading and packing slips.
Operate a forklift to load logs and billet onto trailers and unload prime aluminum, dealer scrap, and other materials from outside suppliers.
Establish or adjust work activities to meet production schedules.
Assist with and perform tasks involved in dumping scrap-loaded trailers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
