About The Position

The Yard Loader sorts and racks lumber according to grade markings and size, and helps move and load materials and products. The role provides customer service in the lumber yard, assists with store deliveries and merchandise loading, and helps keep the yard and racks clean and orderly. The position reports to the Yard Foreman and is part-time and non-exempt.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and climb throughout the day.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service.
Answer questions and identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard.
Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
Assist with unloading deliveries as necessary.
Remove lumber from units and place boards in racks according to grade and length.
Read work orders or invoices, or follow oral instructions, to determine which materials or containers need to be moved or loaded.
Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner.
Operate a forklift or industrial truck to assist with loading or moving merchandise and materials.
Complete daily forklift inspections.
Adhere to loss prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
Maintain awareness of hazards in the store that could affect employees or customers.
Communicate customer issues and concerns effectively to applicable internal staff members.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
